DESIGN & EQUIPMENT EVALUATION
The evaluation of a vessel’s drawings
and equipment package probably constitute the most
critical phase for any new building project.
Equipment Evaluation
Equipment selection
is carefully evaluated on the basis of:
• Product suitability in terms of the technical
application
• Delivery and quality records
• Serviceability based on the vessel’s
intended trade pattern
• Review of purchase specifications with special
attention to schedules and delivery at the shipyard
Design Evaluation
Design evaluation is based upon a thorough evaluation
of all drawings with special regard to technical applications,
safety and long-term maintenance. In addition, due
regard is given to conformance with applicable rules
and regulations.
Design review includes:
• Structural drawings
• Mechanical drawings
• Piping and system drawings
• Drawings for accommodation spaces, stores
and specialized compartments
• Electrical plans
• System drawings
• Cargo handling system plans
• Navigational and Communication equipment layout
The design and equipment review is carried out by
a team with both structural as well as operational
experience where a well-developed system is followed
for receipt, review and dispatch of drawings with
records for revisions and comments in order to maintain
overall schedules.
The entire process is closely tracked with specially
developed project monitoring tools.
